Note: Items in purple were from the last patch, but they were not very well pointed out in the patch notes. I had to play to figure them out and/or get clarification. Sorry if this is confusing.

Game Play Changes

Drop System Changes

- Unique items drop slightly more often now (even from regular monsters on normal difficulty).

- You will get drops from making progress on achievements, as well as finishing achievements.

- Generously increased the drop rate on Hell mode. You will find blue items to be extremely common, legendary items to be far more frequent and unique items to be much more common than before.

- Mythic items currently only drop from the third boss of Tokyo. He will of course drop them more often on Hell mode.



New mini-game and Mythic Champions

* A new mini-game has been added to the game. Whenever you enter an area that does not have a major boss monster, you will have a counter underneath your mini-map.


- Killing monsters will add to the counter and fill up a purple gauge around your mini-map.

- When you fill the gauge, a mythic champion monster will spawn within 10 meters of your player.

- The mythic champion monsters have a much higher chance to drop unique items and unique blue prints. They will also always drop special essences.

-- Special essences are used in conjunction with nano shards to craft unique blue prints and/or craft mythic weapons via the cube.

-- The quantity of special essences scale with difficulty; you will get more on Nightmare and even more on Hell than normal mode.

Item Crafting Changes

- Crafting mythic items now requires 100 essences and 25 greater essences (from mythic monsters, greater essences come from mythic monsters in the Abyss & Tokyo), 25 dark stones (from monsters in Abyss or Tokyo) and 300 nano shards. You still only have a 20% to get a mythic item.

-- 80% of the time, you will get either: Other items (could be any quality), skill points(very low probability), super analyzers (moderate probability)) or nothing (low probability)

- All of those hidden recipes on the cube have been revealed (this only applies to Leisure Wreck Shawn, we most likely have never had access to these recipes)

- Unique item blue prints will now drop; they are relatively common drops (I.E. 1 hour of play on normal can net you about 5; results may vary).

-- Not every unique item is available via blue print. Also, the blue print will not always be for your class (of course). They require nano shards and the essences dropped from mythic monsters in order to be crafted.

Other changes

* Westminister Catacombs is now an excellent place to find Dark Stones and the essences needed for crafting. The further down you go in floors, the greater the chance for getting essences and dark stones increases.

* A tutorial on the new mini-game has been added to one of the starting areas.

* Infrequently used "Newbie", "LFG", and "Trade" chat channels have been removed.

* Players will be able to toggle off automatically joining the general channels when they log in.

* Fixed a bug where using /screenshot caused old screen shots to get over-written.

* Print Screen | SYSRQ now works for screen shots.


* Achievements for collecting Palladium, Items, Destroying Items and identifying items have been changed (were too high before).

*The game can now be played in English (translation is not finished).

-- To download the English files, open up the data folder located in the Hellgate Resurrection directory and change the "Language.dat" file's contents from "Language=Korean" to"Language=English"

Item Shop Changes

- +30 attribute strength/accuracy/willpower/stamina pills (last 7 days) .... ~$1.30 USD each

Very informative TGC. The cube seems to be vastly improved over the sad state that FSS left it in.

I like all of these changes! I wish that the NA servers were already up and running so I could be playing HGL online again already. If only Leisure wreck Shawn could be converted to english the way it was before. Ahh well, I can wait. And not to mention Revival is going to be well worth the wait as well. For now the great mods we've got going for us in SP are keeping my HGL hunger sated.

I updated the post with the note about the English files being obtainable.

I also made a correction on the +30 attribute pills... they last for 7 DAYS (168 hours), NOT 8 hours.

OK, this is a little off topic but still close enough related I think  :)

Have you noticed any major changes in quality of drops from before? My Evoker is now lvl 26 and for example I haven't even seen a piece of armor with better than +5 AA. Also I haven't seen a single mod with +10% or more in dmg bonus (couple of dual dmg mods sure, but a single bonus has never been two digits). Has Hanbit made the quality of items more lvl dependent or something?

Also have you collected any data about the changes in feeds? Some effects have clearly changed stats and many items seem to have bigger stamina feeds than before.

P.S. How can I get Cube? In Templar Base I get the notification that Nemo has something for me in that starting location but I don't think Nemo even is there.

1. Regarding Item Affixes

They lowered the amount +AA can give you, pretty much across the board. From what I can tell, even unique items can only have as much as +6 aa. I am not sure if the mythic items can have higher amounts. The same goes for pretty much every other affix; they've lowered the amount you can get from +crit chance, +damage (even the monster caste specific affixes and elemental affixes). About the only thing that looks the same to me is the annoying as hell likelihood of finding items with useless, non-cross-class +skills.


2. Regarding Feeds

Feeds have been increased; they did this to encourage people to buy the +attribute drugs from the item shop and also justify ranks giving you 5 attribute points to spend. But on the flip side of that, you can only play the main storyline once per character, so the potential attribute points that you get from quests has been lowered*.


3. The Cube

Sydonai drops the cube semi-regularly. You'll have to just keep killing him on normal or whatever difficulty you feel comfortable taking him on in.

And that "Nemo" quest is some boilerplate crap that they haven't bothered to change for the English version. It's really telling you that the guy with the mohawk nearby the station terminal in Greenwitch Command Center is ready to give you your daily share of 3 resurrection hearts. Whether or not you take them is up to you. :-/


*Some of the Abyss and Tokyo quests do give attribute points, but I am not sure which ones specifically or how many you get. :(
